From
the financial assistance of Rs. 95,000/- granted by
the women’s development corporation, Rosily had
initiated a ‘Hardware shop’ in the year
2002-03. Women running a hardware shop was a rare scene
in a great metropolitan city like – Kochi. Though
her education was limited to Std X, she had successfully
managed the novel venture that involves considerable
risk and challenge. As the business made a sweeping
success, she could easily repay the full amount without
many impediments.
As the spouse was bedridden, she was
the sole earning member of the family that includes
three children. However, the monetary backing from the
corporation was a real boon for the family which falls
below the poverty line.
From the confidence level and motivation
gained, she thought of enlarging the business after
4 years (2007). As she was prompt in her repayment she
could easily availed another loan of Rs 95,000/- from
the same. Currently, she is getting a monthly net profit
of Rs. 10,000/- per month from her business.
When she looks back to the past years,
she feels contented and proud. Above all she bows head
to the co-operation and assistance of KSWDC for making
her life independent and successful.
Dhija
T.D, 31 yrs, Vallarpadam, Kochi
The family owned ‘Chemmenkettu’
was kept ideal for many years due to financial crisis.
In order, to reawaken this, Dhija seek the help of the
corporation. During the financial year 2006-07 she had
granted a loan amount of Rs. 25,000/- to activate ‘Prawn
Cultivation’.
As she was well aware of this cultivation,
she found it easier to carry out the task easily. The
loan amount proved worth in her life as she made a net
profit of Rs. 6000/- per month from the venture.
She had hailed from low economic pulaya
community and studied till S.S.L.C. Her husband was
a daily labourer and the two children are studying in
a nearby schools.
Now she felt satisfactory as she
was able to revitalize the family owned asset. She says
that she would not have been accomplish the task without
the help of the corporation.
Sarasu
K. T, 46 yrs, Kalamassery, Kochi
Sararsu hailed from a pulaya community
and had passed 10th Std. The only source of income for
the family was through the wages earned from the daily
laboureer of her husband which was too meager to pull
on the family of two children. Under this circumstance,
she approached the corporation for a loan. The location
of her house in the side of the road, this enabled her
to start a general merchandise shop from the financial
assistance of
Rs. 30, 000/- in the year 2006-07.
Now she is earning a handsome profit
of Rs. 4000/ -per month. She could repay the loan without
any default. The timely assistance and intervention
of the corporation and the new found occupation had
brought up new dreams into her life.
Valsala.T,35
yrs, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram
Valsala and her husband – Vijayakumar was running
a small hotel in the nearby premise of her house in
the core of the city. Though it was not profitable it
was their sole source of their family’s daily
bread. At that point of time, they came to know the
loan scheme of the corporation. They had applied and
allocated a lumsum of Rs. 25,000/-. With that they had
purchased utensils and other items required for the
betterment of the hotel. This had made great impact
to the hostel and began to earn profit after years of
toil. From the profit earned they are repaying the loan.
Now the family were able to make
improvement in their daily household chores and children’s
education. The family is grateful to the corporation
for the assistance and help.
Omana.D,
Vattappara,
Thirvananathapuram
After the demise of the father, the responsibility
of looking after the family members was vested upon
omana during her very young age. The life was in the
midst of sheer poverty and agony.
From the awareness generation programme
conducted by the corporation, she came to know about
the loan facilities and its allied aspects. This has
inspired her and approached the corporation and applied
for a loan to initiate a hotel. In the meantime, Rs
one lakh were disbursed. Gradually, she began to earn
income from the new business. This was a blessing for
her familyu who was battling/baffled with poverty.
Since she is repaying the loan promptly
without any default she thinks she had made a vice decision
and her new venture developed her social skills. Now
she is happy with family responsibility and fetching
an income.
She is very much pleased to the
corporation for the timely intervention and proper guidance.
Rose
John, 36 yrs, Thoppumpady, Kochi
With a certificate in beauty therapy
and two years experience in the relevant field Rose
approached the corporation to set off an independent
beauty parlour.
Thus in the year 2007-08, the corporation
had granted a loan of Rs. 95,000/-. She had initiated
the business in a rented building with the help of other
two co-workers.
Being a degree holder in sociology
she is well aware o the tactics in business and with
the co-operation of her husband who is working in private
firm is now effectively doing her business. Getting
a net profit of Rs. 8500/ - per month she is happy enjoying
life with her three sons and business comfortably.
Smt.
Shyamalakumari.V, Thamalam, Thiruvananathapuram
She obtained the fianancial assistance
of Rs. 47,500/- in the year 2003 to set up a provisional
store. A low profile family that involves two children
was brought up with great difficulty with the only income
of her husband whos is a daily labourer. In the midst
of a wretched/miserable circumstance condition, she
proceeded to the corporation for financial help. The
attempt proved worth in her life and now she could very
well manage the need of the children and the family
from the profit earned from the commodity shop. At present
it is functioning in a rented building still the corporation
claims that she is very sstern about repayment and payinmg
in a time bound manner. She is paying Rs 918 monthly.
She had cleared all her financial liabilities and her
only balalnce due was the repayment to the corporation
due in 17 instalments.

Anitha, 34 yrs, Thirumala, Thiruvananthapuram
After the demise of her husband –
Sri Sarasidhran she started a fancy store in a hired
building in a very low profile manner. After a couple
of period she came to know about the loan scheme for
scheduled castes of the corporation. Thereby she had
availed a loan under scheme under SC scheme of Rs. 25,000/-
inorder to expand her existing fancy store.
She had two children aged 10 yrs
and 8 yrs. She had her studying till 10th std. She assured
that she could have ceased the store much earlier without
the lending hand of the corporation. Now she is paying
Rs. 738/ - every month without any default. From the
return from the business she could be able to pay the
rent, look after the household chores and the children’s
education in a much better way. She swears it is all
because of the co-operation and assistance of the KSWDC.
Sajani Antony
She had started Kindergarten named –
‘LORDS’ in the year 2000 meant for children
between the age group of 2.5 – 3.5 yrs. As years
passed by LKG and UKG were also incorporated.
Economic crisis were crucial for the
smooth functioning of the nursery. She had approached
many banks. Due to high interest rates and rigid formalities
she had to step back from banks and other financial
institutions.
Subsequently, she came to know
about the loan scheme of the corporation. With low interest
rates and simple procedures she could easily get the
laon of Rs 1,00,000/ -. This helped her in improving
the quality of the nursery and more faaciltities were
provided to the children. She says that the financial
assisitance from KSWDC was a great help to the women
to grow and come forward in the society. Presently she
could remitt the loan without any delay. This had given
her institution good reputation and great satisfaction
in her life.
Noorjahan.
M, 42 yrs, palayam, Thiruvananthapuram
Noorjahan with the co-operation and joint
effort of her husband and son is running a Mobile shop
that includes sales, services. Exchange, accessories
& easy charges in a near by shop in the house. She
had availed a aloan of Rs 75,000/-. She is recently
paying back without any default.

Obtained a loan of Rs 47, 500/- she had
constructed a shop close to her residence and started
a provisional store.
She had hailed from a low economic family
that includes 3 daughters and her husband. There is
no specific source of income for their family. From
the small business started from the loan of corporation
the family is upcoming, relieved from the financial
liabilities and started repaying the loan and without
any delay .
