SELF-EMPOYMENT LOAN PROGRAMS
For starting up viable self-employment units, credit is made available to women belonging to families below the poverty line and double the poverty line to take up any income generating and self-sustaining economic activity that are repayable in monthly instalments. Loans are given at low interest rates to start any venture to give sustained employment to women and the quantum of loan will be need based. The loan application should be supported with detailed project report and there is no prescribed educational qualification for the loan. But those who have passed SSLC or those having experience in the relevant field are given experience.
Loans are presently extended to women belonging to the following categories:
- Backward Classes
- Minority communities
- Scheduled Caste
- Physically Handicapped
- Scheduled Tribe
- Forward Communities
Funds for loans to Backward Classes, Minority Communities and Physically Handicapped and Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe women are channelised from the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC), National Minority Finance Development Corporation (NMFDC), National Handicapped Finance Development Corporation (NHFDC) & National Scheduled Caste Finance & Development Corporation (NSFDC) and National Scheduled Tribe Finance & Development Corporation (NSTFDC). The State Government under Plan Schemes provides funds for women belonging to the forward communities.

SINGLE WOMEN BENEFIT SCHEME
To empower destitute and marginalized women such as widows, divorcees, separated, unwed mothers, unmarried women above 35 years of age. etc., a one-time grant-in-aid of Rs.10,000/- is provided to selected single women to enable her to set up a small enterprise to overcome her financial difficulties. The amount is provided to women belonging to BPL families. Selection is done based on recommendation of a functionary of local panchayat or Director of KSWDC.
JOB-ORIENTED TRAINING PROGRAMMES
To enable women to find suitable jobs and to enhance their employment prospects and to prepare women for self-employment, training is imparted in skill development and skill upgradation in various technical, technological, and traditional trades.
The areas that impart the job oriented training programmes are as follows:

Geriatric Nursing
Ornamental Fish Rearing & Breeding
Computerized Office Management
In order to tap the wide opportunities in the employment sector, the organization has also visualized new training programmes for women viz:

MARKETING SUPPORT FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS
For the women’s industrial units, marketing of their products is the biggest hazard faced by the entrepreneurs and women artisans. In spite of maintaining good quality, these units are faced with failure due to inadequate facilities for marketing, sales promotion, publicity etc. With a view to overcome such difficulties the corporation had set up open marketing centers / fairs to facilitate women to showcase and sell their products. From the financial support of Govt. of India, it had launched Trade fair/ Exhibition in various districts such as Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (EDP)
Entrepreneurship development of prospective women entrepreneurs and development of management capabilities of existing women industrialists are sought to be achieve through camps and training programmes. Therefore Entrepreneurship Awareness/ Development Programs are conducted for beneficiaries as well as non-beneficiary women to enhance their entrepreneurial skills. In such camps the entrepreneurs are made conversant of topics such as marketing, financing, various schemes of banks, Govt. rules and regulations etc
WORKING WOMEN’S HOSTEL
In order to cater to the requirement of working women for safe, clean and reasonable accommodation, the Corporation is presently running seven Working Women’s Hostels located in Ernakulam (Trikkakara and Gandhinagar), Kannur (Pallikunnu), Malappuram (Tirur and Manjeri), Wayanad (Mananthavady), and Trivandrum. From the inmates of the hostels only minimal amount is collected towards monthly rent.
AUTORICKSHAW / SCHOOL VAN DRIVER’S SCHEME
Credit is provided to women for purchase of autorickshaws and school vans. Free driver’s training is provided for women who come forward to take up this challenging scheme.
GENDER AWARENESS AND EMPOWERMENT Awareness generation programmes, camps, seminars and exhibitions are conducted to highlight the various problems faced by women in general and to work out the remedies. It also helps women to be conscious of their rights and laws pertaining to them.
