Sthree Niketh Vanitha Federation (SNVF) started functioning in 1990 as a women’s wing of Trivandrum District Fishermen Federation (TDFF), a fishermen charitable society registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Society’s Act, 1955. In 1993 it was registered as a separate organization under the same Act (Reg.No.710/93). Later in 1996, the women members felt that SNVF should be a separate entity and be separated from TDFF for the smooth functioning. As such it has started functioning independently in 1996.

Brief : Malankara Social Service Society(MSSS) is a non-governmental organization of the Arch diocese of Trivandrum. Registered in 1961 under the Travancore-Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act of 1955 with Reg.No. TsNo34 of 1961.It covers the three revenue districts of Kerala State(viz.Trivandrum, Kollam and Pathanamthitta (Partially). MSSS has a governing body that provides guidance regarding programs, funding, policies etc.

MSSS began with welfare and charity oriented approach and started with mother and child health programs. Under these program, provided supplementary nutrition to mothers and their children below three years. Women beneficiaries were organized as groups and some development activities were initiated, the overall approach was charity, welfare and service delivery. There hasbeen a shift in the development perspective of MSSS. It was, however realized that the charity doesnot really bring in sustainable development and that people should not be mere objects of development but they should real owners of development. From 1991 onwards, MSSS started to pave thoughts in the professional direction of Community Organization and Development.

The Vayalar Memorial Youth Club (VMYC) is a Socio-economic and Cultural development centre registered under the Travancore- Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1955 with registration No. 195/1976 dated. 22.6.1976 in memoriam of Vayalar Ramavarma who was an eminent social reformer and renowned Malayalam Poet. Brief Description

Quilon Social Service Society (QSSS) is the official agency of the Catholic Diocese of Quilon to promote, facilitate, conduct and co-ordinate social action/ programs for the emancipation and uplift of the weaker sections, particularly those socially challenged and discriminated against on the grounds of gender, caste and creed. Established in 1960, the Society is one of the oldest organizations in the area registered under the provisions of Charitable Act and holding NGO status in due compliance of all stipulations thereto. Kerala Rural Development Agency, KRDA is a Non-Governmental Organization working in the field of community development and research since 1985. KSSS’ and contributions to the women section in its operational area has been recognized owing to the innovative interventions such as Women Community Hotel, Women drummers’ troupe, Women autorickshaw drivers, Women painting group, Women coconut climbers, women rubber tapping and rain-guarding, women security force etc. Numerous women leaders have emerged and serve in the offices of Panchayathi Raj Institutions as a result of empowerment gained by women through KSSS trainings.

The operational area of the Society spreads over the Revenue Districts of Kottayam and Idukki in full and Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Ernakulam in part in the State of Kerala. The organization is a registered society, working for the welfare of the Rural and tribal poor, since 1986. It is promoted by Sisters of Caritas Secular institute, under the patronage of Kottayam Diocese. The register number of the society is S-459/86 registered on 8th October 1986 with the Registrar for society at Tellicherry. The organization began social work activities by undertaking community health as a major entry point activity in Payyavoor area with the participation of its sister concern namely “Mercy hospital” Payyavoor since 1972. There after an independent society is registered in 1986 for undertaking rural and Tribal community development. In 1998 the society have started employing professionals with M.S.W qualifications for undertaking developmental activities on a larger scale .At present it has 9 office staff employed full time and 18 field staff . The society undertake a variety of developmental activities such as formation of self help group, micro-finance, income generation activities, tribal development, agricultural and natural resource management, housing, promotion of peoples organizations and association, women empowerment programmes through I.G.P, Skill training, Awareness generation etc. Roof water harvesting, construction of sanitary toilets, plant nursery, Emu birds rearing, local public library, tailoring center, bee-keeping, poultry development, etc are the activities carried out in the recent past. Educational scholarship has been a major activity promoted by the society during the last 2 years. Scope

IRD initiated a number of Socio Economic Educational Programs for the comprehensive development of the weaker sections in the community. We are undertaking different training programs like Handicraft, Coir products, Skill up gradation and Job oriented programs with a vision of sustainable income generation to family. To achieve this we are incorporating with different Department, Nationalized Banks, Financial Institutions and other Training Institutions for getting different options in livelihood programs. In all our programs, the chief objective is women development and their empowerment in Social Economic and Political fields. We are focusing in adolescent problems and organizing adolescent empowerment residential camps to illicit their issues. In addition to this we are organizing Parents for counseling and to have better behavior and approach with their children. In order to solve domestic violence issues our organization act as a Service Provider with the help of a Female Advocate. We are implementing RCH Programs in un served and under served areas of Kuttichal Grama Panchayath. We have covered 27 Tribal hamlets in Kuttichal Grama Panchayath and implemented Medical Camps, Adolescent Counseling and Clinic, Healthy Baby Competition, Special Clinic for Diabetic and supply of Napkins to the Adolescent Girls. IRD is implementing Sureksha Targeted Intervention MSM Project in Trivandrum City, Kovalam, Neyyattinkara, Nedumangad, Varkala and Kadinamkulam areas. Our Sureksha Office is located near Vylopilli Samskrithi Bhavan, Trivandrum. The scope of this project is to prevent HIV incidents in our project area. In order to empower the women we have started SHG organization and Micro Credit. Various Micro Economic Credit programs were conducted to have substantial subsidiary income for betterment of the family. We canalized them to Nationalized Bank to get bulk loan for IG programs. With a view to protect the environment and preserve the nature we are implementing various programs in collaboration with Science and Technology Department. For each house a Nelli Plant under the Amla Mission of State Medicinal Plant we have distributed 11000 both Wild and Grafted Seedlings to the selected wards in Kollam district. We are very happy to say that we are one of the implementing agency of SMP Board. IRD is acting as consultant of Yuvasakthi project supported by Kerala State Youth Welfare Board. We are the accredited NGO of Tribal Development Department, Women Welfare Department and Clean Kerala Mission.
