Company Overview
The Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation (KSWDC) is the key organization under the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Kerala, initiated with the sole objective to empower women socially, economically and educationally, so that they are equipped to play a major role in the development process of the State. Incorporated in 22 February 1988 under the Companies Act 1956, it formulates, promotes and implements projects that aim at women for improving her status to a self-sustaining and self-standing level.
The entire gamut of activities of the Corporation focused on women development and empowerment such as Entrepreneurship Development, Project Financing, Promotional Support to Women Entrepreneurs, Job Oriented Training Programmes, Personality Development Programmes, Working Women’s Hostels etc. The Corporation is the State Channelising Agency (SCA) for implementing various development programmes of the National Agencies such as:
 National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC)
 National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC)
 National Handicapped Finance Development Corporation (NHFDC)
 National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC) and
 National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC)
for providing credit to women for setting up viable income generating enterprises and educational purposes.
Being the State Nodal Agency for schemes of Government of India, diverse projects in the spheres of self-employment and welfare for women are being implemented by the Corporation directly as well as through NGOs.
The Corporation has achieved great strides in the development and distribution of benefits for the welfare of women, especially those in the lower rungs of the economic ladder. In the year 2007-08, it has proven track record (Rs. 837.89 lakhs) in the disbursement of self- employment loans for the economic upliftment of women in the state of Kerala by availing enormous support from the State Government and by tapping the schemes of Government of India.
ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
Subject the provisions of the section 252 of the Companies Act, the Governor shall from time to time determine in writing the number of Directors of the company which shall not be less than two and not more than eleven. The Governor shall appoint the Directors including the Chairman. The Managing Director is the Chief Executive of the Company.
